A Liberating Activity - Guess What Mine Is....

When asked what’s my one single favorite thing to do in the world, I would usually name a whole list of things that I love to do when my work is not screaming at me. Something that takes my mind COMPLETELY off of everyday tasks and relaxes me. Take a guess what it is…. If you say ‘reading’, yes, I love reading (especially soppy love stories with lots of sex scenes, please. Hee hee hee….) and I also love mystery novels but it’s not the first on the list. If you say ‘playing the piano’; yes, I love playing the piano. Creating forms a huge part of my life and whenever I play the piano (as inept at it as I am), there’s this tiny little girl inside of me jumping up and down with glee, clapping her hands. It’s my childhood dream to be able to play the piano! And thumping on the keys gives me a sense of satisfaction when I hear the music. If you say ‘writing’; You’ve got to be kidding me! You mean I don’t write enough as it is? Case closed. If you say ‘playing with my kids’; Yeah, you’re darn right about that, I love playing with my kids. But I work from home, you see, so I listen to their jabbering and squabbles all-day-long, so, it doesn’t completely take me away from the real world. If you say ‘drinking’; Yeah, you’re just about right. I love to drink…not until pengsan (faint) but until I feel very very very very relaxed. Although I used to drink a lot (I’m not going into details) but I’ve cut down a lot and most of the time, during week days, I don’t drink anymore and it’s not the single most incredibly liberating activity to me now. If you say ‘watching series’; Oooohhh….you know me so well! Yeah, I love it because it takes me into another world where other people’s problems are actually BIGGER than mine. Wa ha ha ha ha!! But it does nothing to relax me. So… If you say ‘knitting’; Sure, I love knitting but one can only knit for so long, right? I mean, I AM A VERY RESTLESS PERSON and you can’t expect me sit there needle stroke after needle stroke and feel relaxed and liberated, right? But it does give me a sense of satisfaction because I ‘created’ something. If you say ‘cooking’; Mmmm…not too bad. But not close enough. If you say ‘singing’; You’re pretty darn close! Singing DOES take me into another world…whenever I am on stage, I just become someone else. It’s extremely, extremely liberating to be entertaining an appreciative crowd and hearing the sound of applause coming at me….and hearing applause comes second to a mind-blowing orgasm. So….guess….what is it that I love to do that liberates me, takes me into another world and most importantly, physically, emotionally and psychologically relaxes me? p.s. And it’s not sex, OK?

Well it's physical (NOT sex), in your following post you mention poetry but that is not physical (unless you like to bang your head off a wall thinking of the perfect metaphor to use..). Could it be dance/tai-chi/yoga (some form of physical expression)?

Malaysian Election 2008 - Malaysians ready for change

The political wrestle is over, here in Malaysia, and thankfully too because it earned me a hangove from watching the news, and reading all the readily available blogs on cyberspace all night long. With a spilting headache from squinting into the PC screen, watching the TV for news on the results from the ballot boxes, anxiety, uncertainty and HOPE lingers in the air..... BN, our ruling party in Malaysia, who has been flexing its political muscles for a long time now with the confident (and ever sleepy and gay) PM convincing Malaysians that BN is the only way to peace. Opposition cannot hold the fort properly, though, because the formation and coalition between them is too loose. But with BN denied the 2/3 majority it needed, all I can say is that Pak Lah tore a tendon while flexing his political muscles. Fed up, fed up, fed up - Malaysians are fed up A lot of Malaysians chose not to vote for the oppositition IN THE PAST because we wanted unity, we resisted change because of a date w...

Maid Side-Kick

I was kind of a little sad when I read the news about this - there will be no live-in Indonesian maids in Malaysia anymore . There are pros and cons to having a live-in maid, as with everything else, but for us, we enjoyed more pros than cons. Back then, when my kids were little, we brought in a family of maids to help with...well, just about everything, and we were like two families merged into one. They ate what we ate, we sleep, they sleep, we shop, they shop, they joke, we laugh, we joke, they laugh...for me, the maid I hired was more like a sister and side-kick to me. For that few years, I was dependent on her to mind-read my schedule and when I need or don't need help. She picked things up quickly and we ended up having lots of moments whereby we were in sync. Today, two of them are on my Facebook and we were gleefully chatting over Facebook Messenger since they've just discovered the wonders of the Internet and Social Media. Since we were more like partners in crim...
