Birthday : Eating Up a Storm....or Two

Today, you are you! That is truer than true! There is no one alive who is you-er than you! - Dr. Seuss Another birthday has crawled up from behind me and as my sordid son just reminded me, Just another year closer to death . Well, he did NOT say it to me (obviously) but he says this as a reminder (a joke, of course) to his friends. Friends are mean to each other that way. Most of the time, we eat at home as much as we can - it's healthier, cheaper and easier for all of us, that way. But it's a birthday so, most years, we eat out. We had a buffet of meat (we missed our chance for their birthdays on April 1st this year because I did not think ahead of time to book a table and the restaurant was full) today to celebrate another year of life achieved. The #foodpictures begins! To celebrate my birthday, we're stuffing our face with meat 🍖 in an eat-all-you-can restaurant 🍴 #foodpic #dinner #foodporn😍 #foodporn #instafood #instafoodie #foodgasm #meat #restaurants

Update : Phone Hunting

My son broke the screen of his smartphone and so, we went a-hunting for an affordable replacement. Sigh...such was the Sunday. But I have to say that they've been generally careful with their phones because they know we're not millionaires and they love their phones to death. They may not have the latest iPhone or the coolest gadgets but they are generally very appreciative of what they have, which is important to me. While we were looking around for the best options in the market today, this was what we found Son 2 doing. He kept asking ' Can you see what I am seeing? Can you see? ' No, Jad. We couldn't see it and you look really...funny. LOL This is what people look like when they try on these thingamagics XD #instapic #instapics #picoftheday #samsung A post shared by Marsha Maung (@marshamaung) on Jul 23, 2017 at 3:02am PDT Credit : Emoji Head Laughing  - Shutterstock Happy Monday, folks, XOXO, Marsha Anyway, if you're on Instag

Bye : It's No Longer Heavy

It's heavy no more. We'll miss your songs and voice. Love, Marsha p.s. I don't usually post more than once a day but I thought this warrants it. "Heavy" (feat. Kiiara) I don't like my mind right now Stacking up problems that are so unnecessary Wish that I could slow things down I wanna let go but there's comfort in the panic And I drive myself crazy Thinking everything's about me Yeah I drive myself crazy 'Cause I can't escape the gravity I'm holding on Why is everything so heavy? Holding on To so much more than I can carry I keep dragging around what's bringing me down If I just let go, I'd be set free Holding on Why is everything so heavy? You say that I'm paranoid But I'm pretty sure the world is out to get me It's not like I make the choice To let my mind stay so fucking messy I know I'm not the center of the universe But you keep spinning round me just the same I know I'

Picture Post : Proud Parent I Am

Of all the things I did wrong, I must have done something right... No matter what people say about my kids and I, no matter how close or how far apart that we are, related or not, no matter what they think of me and my kids, I know that they are not perfect. I don't expect them to be. I just want them to be who they are and be happy with that.  I hope, after I am six feet underground, they find this and know that there's nothing missing.  Nothing is missing.  Happy Friday! Love, Marsha

Video : Job Hazards 10000101011000011

It's Wednesday and most people are trudging along during their work week (What? I wasn't talking about YOU. I was talking about THEM!) and whether we realize it or not, we might find ourselves wishing for a trip to Bali or Santorini free of charge . But you know what? For most of us, it isn't going to happen too soon. Curse you , if it does and what's your phone number, do you have a rich father? WARNING : This is a legit warning and it's in RED and capitals for a good reason : turn the volume down if the baby is sleeping, you're using headphones or your boss is lurking around your cubicle wondering if you're on Facebook. Anyway, found this video on DIGG and I think it's perfect for days like today, Wednesday, when you're stuck in the middle of the week, can't go back to Monday to restart and can't forward to Friday to Happy Hour. When you are Born to Write

Writing is easy. All you need to do is to cross out the wrong words - Mark Twain I am not sure if the quote above is actually said or written by the renowned Mark Twain but it sure is true. All you need to do is pour everything in your head on paper, even if it sounds absolutely ridiculous, out of this world (maybe that's what you need!) or absolutely crap, and then go back and delete the words you don't need.  And truth be told, even if someone told me not to write EVER AGAIN, I will still end up writing somewhere. It could be on pen and paper, it could be engraved on rocks, but I will definitely end up writing again and again...and again. Because that's just what I do.  Have an amazing Tuesday ahead, people of the world, XOXO, Marsha

Movie : Is Anyone Going to Bring Big Hero 6 Back (Not a Review)

I mean, how cute is THAT?! XD I don't care what everyone else says or think but we can gawk over Iron Man, sweat bullets over the hot-ness of Thor, marvel at the temperamental Hulk, have sweet (ahem) dreams over Captain America or coo all over the adorable minions all we want, BayMax is a this fluffy sweet cotton candy that you want to hug all day long and no others have come close to making me want to hug my laptop.  Unless he turns into this, which was what 14-year-old Hiro did to him, not Tadashi. I am a big BayMax fan, more than I am a fan of Wall-E, Woody, Moana (and the dreamy Maui), or maybe even BAMBI, Peter Pan and TINKERBELL! Yes, I am a softie, so what? LOL. (But hey, Tinkerbell has a mean streak, OK? haha) Is it any wonder that it won an award at the Kids' Choice Award?! Is anyone ever going to come up with a new one (and not spoil the bejeesus out of it) soon? We want, really want, BayMax back! And besides, it's refreshing that many Asian (o

Food Wastage : Things We Can Do To Reduce It

Roughly one third of the  food  produced in the  world  for human consumption every year — approximately 1.3 billion tonnes — gets lost or  wasted .  Food  losses and waste  amounts to roughly US$ 680 billion in industrialized countries and US$ 310 billion in developing countries - FAO I don't usually buy the newspaper but sometimes, a thing or two pops up and I want to keep it or write about it. This is one of them : Punish Malaysians who continue to waste food . Food, to me, is a very big thing...don't ask me why and how this started but it could have a thing or two to do with having kids, having to buy groceries, having to prepare and make dinner, and having been at the brink of starving because there wasn't any money left to buy food for the kids. Suffice to say, when you are at that stage, the reality of starving becomes very, very real and self-awakening. 1. First, learn about what you can and cannot keep in the fridge . This, I say from personal experience.

Music : Winter's Dream - Kelly Andrew

It's Friday again and if you're not out there partying or dining with your fiends tomorrow, have a listen to this. Better yet if you have a good pair of speakers, hook it up and have a listen. It's a piano piece that is a little melancholic, has Enya-like vocals in the background, and sounds ever-so-much-better when you close your eyes. The song might not last in your head for a very long time to come but it is definitely very haunting and melodic...like listening to it when the sun is rising out in the distance or when you're approaching the top of a hilly terrain and the horizon is peeking out at you from afar. Some musicians complicate their songs with too many instruments but this is not one of them. I like that it is uncomplicated, better to clear your head with. Update : The Just-Off-the-Boat LRT Users

“Time you enjoy wasting is not wasted time.”  ―  Marthe Troly-Curtin ,  Phrynette Married PJ folks like us have always had the privilege of always driving around from one destination to another, whether we want to go shopping for groceries or meet up with a colleague for lunch. Rarely, for people like us, would we actually make an effort to use public transportation. And that's where the problem related to traffic congestion lies for PJ people. The outflow of traffic out of PJ during the morning gridlock and inflow of cars and bikes back after office hours is something we deal with. An ideally 15-minute to 20-minute drive could potentially turn into a 90-minute road-rage-horror ride, especially when there's rain and flash floods. The city was developed during  British Malaya  on a piece of 1,200 acres (486 ha) rubber estate (the Effingham Estate) around Old Klang Road to address the overpopulation of the capital  Kuala Lumpur  in the 1950s - Wikipedia So, needless to sa

Cooking : Canned Sardine with a Kimchi Twist

When you have a can of sardines and are thinking of a way to put a new (spicy) twist to it How many times have you gone through your cabinets or pantry to find canned food and you're thinking to yourself ' I've just made this the other day, don't tell me...le sigh.... ' I don't know about you, but it happens to me a lot. If you cook almost everyday, this could be you too. I hope I am not alone in this. XD Anyway, my friend's friend made some kimchi and knowing that me and my younger son are fans of kimchi, she shared some of her stash with us. Having (more or less) recovered from a severe bout of stomach and gastric problems, I am a little careful with the spice. And as mentioned, I opened up my cabinet to see said can of sardine. My friend gave me the idea of mixing the two, saying that she really liked it that way so, it was HER idea, alright? LOL So, if you have a can of sardine and would like to do something quirky  with it, try this. I have

Music : How Come, How Long - Babyface & Stevie Wonder (1997)

Do we let it just go on Turn our backs and carry on Wake up, for it's too late Right now, we can't wait She won't have a second try Open up your hearts As well as your eyes Was listening to the radio and this song came on and I sat there wondering how come they don't make songs like these anymore. Songs with a soothing melody, meaningful lyrics and sung by talented people who don't just know how to carry a tune but are so talented that their names will forever be etched in minds of the 1970s and 1980s babies. Can you imagine Babyface is 58 this year and Stevie Wonder is 67 (2017)? How Come, How Long - Babyface, Stevie Wonder There was a girl I used to know She was oh so beautiful But she's not here anymore She had a college degree Smart as anyone could be She had so much to live for But she fell in love With the wrong kinda man He abused her love and treated her so bad There was not enough education in her world That could save the life
