2 Of My Childhood Dreamboats

They’re still around? I was surprised to find that my childhood dreamboats are still in the entertainment Hollywood scene. Some of them have disappeared, seemingly, into oblivion while others (Johnny Depp of 21 Jump Street) have hopped onto bigger yachts. Those who did not do an aboutturn must have, I assume, decided to explore other industries…business being the most likely alternate option for celebrities. But I was surprised to find Neil Patrick Harris still around the entertainment scene. What has he been doing because I’ve definitely not heard much about him…not after Doogie Howser was wrapped up. Oh, but I had it bad for this lil Doc. Back then, the concept of having a teenager doctor was so exciting that I dreamt about Neil Patrick Harris come nurse a fingernail that I broke while watching his series. When he was young, he had this nerdy look and beguiling smile that simply called out to you, didn’t he? (I TOLD you I had a thing for slightly nerdy guys!) In reality, I would rather dig out my own heart than to have a teenager doctor like him poke a single needle into me. But if it was Doogie…erm, I don’t know. I’ll consider it very seriously. Of course, NKOTB was so high up on the pedestal that other stars could not hold a single candle up to my Joe McIntyre…but of course!! Then there’s Mark Paul Gosselaar….that cute-ish smile, lop-sided grin, tall blonde locks and smiling eyes. Sigh…. There is more but I would end up writing a book if I named them all. Come to think of it, is there anything wrong with idolizing these stars? I know of someone (a mother) who is hard-up on the ‘idolizing’ thing for her daughter. She’s really adamant about keeping her daughter ‘straight’ and ‘studious’. She (the mother) doesn’t know that her daughter talks to me about some young stars and singers all the time…sometimes asking me to print pictures from the internet of these stars. I understand what teenagers go through so, I do it for the heck of doing it, anyway. I don’t see any harm in them idolizing or being besotted with these young men, do you? Even at thirty-something, I still am fascinated by some celebrities and I am reasonably a well-mannered (except when intoxicated), sensible (most of the time) and sane (I try my best..hee hee hee) adult, amn’t I?

Stargazer - Stretch Those Sides

I have been doing this pose, part of Cosmic Dance (a type of yoga, I am assuming), called Stargazer pose without knowing it is called Stargazer's pose a lot in the past. You see, sometimes, I don't follow the rules and come up with my own stretches and poses. It is fun. I have on some music, nice, soothing music or just anything I can click on. Then I go with the flow, letting my hair down. Just moving to the music...and that is when I come up with the above Stargazer's pose. This pose really stretches your sides. Keep your eyes on the outstretched hand if you are keeping it pointed to the top, as if you are waving or connecting to a higher energy from the Universe. Your arms will ache a little but hey, toned arms, here you come! :-) For those who want a bigger stretch, it is safe to slowly and gently move the lifted hand towards your back...don't overdo it, listen to your body's complaints and respect it. You don't have to prove anything to anyone, reme...

Maid Side-Kick

I was kind of a little sad when I read the news about this - there will be no live-in Indonesian maids in Malaysia anymore . There are pros and cons to having a live-in maid, as with everything else, but for us, we enjoyed more pros than cons. Back then, when my kids were little, we brought in a family of maids to help with...well, just about everything, and we were like two families merged into one. They ate what we ate, we sleep, they sleep, we shop, they shop, they joke, we laugh, we joke, they laugh...for me, the maid I hired was more like a sister and side-kick to me. For that few years, I was dependent on her to mind-read my schedule and when I need or don't need help. She picked things up quickly and we ended up having lots of moments whereby we were in sync. Today, two of them are on my Facebook and we were gleefully chatting over Facebook Messenger since they've just discovered the wonders of the Internet and Social Media. Since we were more like partners in crim...

A Liberating Activity - Guess What Mine Is....

When asked what’s my one single favorite thing to do in the world, I would usually name a whole list of things that I love to do when my work is not screaming at me. Something that takes my mind COMPLETELY off of everyday tasks and relaxes me. Take a guess what it is…. If you say ‘ reading ’, yes, I love reading (especially soppy love stories with lots of sex scenes, please. Hee hee hee ….) and I also love mystery novels but it’s not the first on the list. If you say ‘ playing the piano ’; yes, I love playing the piano. Creating forms a huge part of my life and whenever I play the piano (as inept at it as I am), there’s this tiny little girl inside of me jumping up and down with glee, clapping her hands. It’s my childhood dream to be able to play the piano! And thumping on the keys gives me a sense of satisfaction when I hear the music. If you say ‘ writing ’; You’ve got to be kidding me! You mean I don’t write enough as it is? Case closed. If you say ‘ playing with my kids ’; Yea...
