I've always made it a point to teach my kids about life. One of the things that I say very often is "It does not matter what we have, what others have and life is not about material gains. We live with what we have happily...that's what's important". I make it a point, also, to tell them that whatever material stuff we have in life is always temporary.
They get my point.....I think.
I guess they do, really, because they tell me that it's OK that we cannot go for expensive holidays in Australia or Canada or the United States or that the Hong Kong Disneyland trip together is probably as good as it gets. Next would probably be Langkawi until I recover from shock...and that's more than a year ago! :-)
"It's OK that we don't live in a mansion, mom. I love this home as it is", says Jared. Joshua looks at me seriously and nods, "Yeah, mom. This is the perfect place to live in and you're the perfect mom. I like everything that we have now and don't need what others have", Josh adds with a look of pure determination.
"But mom?"
"Yes, dear?"
"Can we.....", Jared starts.
"Can we have a Nintendo Wii?", Joshua finishes for him with a cheeky glint shining in his eyes.
Bah!
But watching them play the game is really great! PLUS Nintendo is not only a game, sometimes, when you're in the middle of a conversation with a client, Nintendo can be a very good babysitter or something I call the shutter-upper. :-)
When asked what’s my one single favorite thing to do in the world, I would usually name a whole list of things that I love to do when my work is not screaming at me. Something that takes my mind COMPLETELY off of everyday tasks and relaxes me. Take a guess what it is…. If you say ‘ reading ’, yes, I love reading (especially soppy love stories with lots of sex scenes, please. Hee hee hee ….) and I also love mystery novels but it’s not the first on the list. If you say ‘ playing the piano ’; yes, I love playing the piano. Creating forms a huge part of my life and whenever I play the piano (as inept at it as I am), there’s this tiny little girl inside of me jumping up and down with glee, clapping her hands. It’s my childhood dream to be able to play the piano! And thumping on the keys gives me a sense of satisfaction when I hear the music. If you say ‘ writing ’; You’ve got to be kidding me! You mean I don’t write enough as it is? Case closed. If you say ‘ playing with my kids ’; Yea...

I bought one for my son's birthday last July and I think he couldn't stop laughing so much on his first go. My daughter complained of muscles ache the next day. It is for adults and kids alike.
By the way, Marsha, do get them to put the strap around their wrist. The danger comes when they lose grip of the handset and it flies hitting someone's face or television.
ya ya ya! i played damn good tennis but my arm ached for, like....three days or so! :-)
