Before reading this article here about Sufiah and her colorful life and controversial decision, I felt pity and then anger towards her father. I feel that her untoward lifestyle is a direct result of her father's behavior towards her when she was young. Pushing the child so far so early on in childhood can cause damage....this was what I felt.
After reading the article and her thoughts about what she's doing earning a living, I feel even worse! It's not the fact that she likes being an escort that horrifies me but it's the fact that she likes being treated as a Princess, being bought gifts and everything superficial related to the 'profession'. Having men shower her with gifts in return for sexual favor is not wrong but it will definitely warp her perception of what a true relationship should be like. Earning a living like that will strip her of knowledge about how to earn money without using her body....or more precisely, a particular part of her body. While it's great that Sufiah claims that she's enjoying every moment of it now but what about later?
What happens when she's older and her market rate is down?
She said that she was too young for Oxford and I agree with her. A child should never be pushed to her limit and into an environment unsuitable for proper growth. She should have been allowed to grow at her own pace instead of being honned like a horse. Many might disagree saying that a child should be pushed but pushing a child is one thing, forcing her past her own limits is a big NO-NO for me.
She might be enjoying herself now but her perception of life, love, building relationships, learning and growing will be different....VERY different....from her peers.
The kids had a wonderfully exciting day today. Now, this is as extreme as this mother is going to get. Mommy goes Paintball, kids go mountain-climbing...I think I've fulfilled the criteria of offering my kids a fun and exciting life as a kid. :-) It was one of their friends' birthday party and they're a little bored of KidzSports...that's for BABIES, anyway, they say. So, off to Camp 5 then, says the birthday boy's mother. Camp 5 in 1 Utama is located near Neways Karaoke, for those who have never been there before. It's a neat little corner tucked up on the roof of the massive shopping complex. Anyway, the kids had tons of fun although a little apprhensive when they saw how high the 'rock' was. It's actually quite neat and if I didn't feel like throwing up whenever up on higher grounds, I would have wanted to try it as well. The highlight of this party came in the form of a rescue mission.
