Of Pet Puppies

I have always had a thing for cute things, people and animals. Don't we all? When I was younger, I brought home one of the cutest puppies in the world and even had a hand in naming the pup, Nikoe. The puppy was from a friend I knew from high school, his dog just had a batch. So, when choosing the pup, I chose the nastiest, naughtiest and most rowdy one. LOL.

Oh boy.

Anyway, once I brought the puppy home, that was the end of the story because raising the pup-turned-dog was HARD. It was hard work because the damn dog would just run out of the house and come home with his coat of hair caked in mud and...I don't know what else. We didn't have dogs like maltese or toy poodles back then. It was either a dog....or a dog.

If you have had a pet in the past, you would relate to the fact that if you found it difficult to deal with the dog's behavior, you would tune out. I did. But that was when I was a teenager when there is so much more out there to have than taking care of a dog. So, everyone else had to deal with the dog that I brought home.

Having kids is different but more or less the same. The commitment is so much bigger and heavier, of course, not that the life of a dog is of less magnitude. My heart broke for a couple of days after finding out how Nikoe died. Wasn't very nice way to die, honestly speaking.

The thing with kids and dogs is this - if you are in it, you are in it.

And that is why, despite falling in love with so many puppies along the way, I have refused to commit to a single puppy. I tried things out with my friend's dogs and OMGGGGGGGGGG....the dog scared me half to death by running out of the house. My thought was HOW THE HELL AM I SUPPOSED TO ANSWER TO MY FRIEND IF I CAN'T FIND THE DOG BACK? hahahaha

But the dog is safe and sound.

Anyway, whether I will have a pet or not in the future, I don't know. It depends on how much the kids are willing to lend me a hand in keeping the dog happy and well-fed. It depends on how much everyone else is willing to chip in in keeping the new family member.

This is me and my friend's dog, Mika, one of the most well-behaved dog EVEEERRRR

She is such a LOVELY LOVELY LOVELY LOVELY LOVELY dog!!!! Me and my kids are absolutely so in love with her. She listens to your every word but according to the owner, she has a diva attitude. I don't know, I have yet to see that side of her. =) My friend brings her over once in a  while.

The whole school holiday has been marred by Immigration issues. Been to the Imigresen four times todate. Seriously, and so far, I have only managed to make MY, yes, ONE, passport renewed. I have yet to bring the kids over to renew theirs. I don't understand why it is so difficult to just RENEW the passport, not make NEW passports. Sometimes, I am inclined to think that some quarters are trying to make it difficult for us folks to get out of the country. What, didn't someone once ask us to GET OUT if we are not happy? LOL.

Yes, yes, yes....I will yet spend more time here, waiting and hoping to actually get a number.

Anyway, as far as a pet is concerned, I MIGHT get one, not sure....it's a whole commitment thing, you know. Still thinking, actually. Waiting for a dog to completely capture my heart and send me catapulting backwards with love. XD

XOXO,
Marsha

A Liberating Activity - Guess What Mine Is....

When asked what’s my one single favorite thing to do in the world, I would usually name a whole list of things that I love to do when my work is not screaming at me. Something that takes my mind COMPLETELY off of everyday tasks and relaxes me. Take a guess what it is…. If you say ‘ reading ’, yes, I love reading (especially soppy love stories with lots of sex scenes, please. Hee hee hee ….) and I also love mystery novels but it’s not the first on the list. If you say ‘ playing the piano ’; yes, I love playing the piano. Creating forms a huge part of my life and whenever I play the piano (as inept at it as I am), there’s this tiny little girl inside of me jumping up and down with glee, clapping her hands. It’s my childhood dream to be able to play the piano! And thumping on the keys gives me a sense of satisfaction when I hear the music. If you say ‘ writing ’; You’ve got to be kidding me! You mean I don’t write enough as it is? Case closed. If you say ‘ playing with my kids ’; Yea...

Malaysian Election 2008 - Malaysians ready for change

The political wrestle is over, here in Malaysia, and thankfully too because it earned me a hangove from watching the news, and reading all the readily available blogs on cyberspace all night long. With a spilting headache from squinting into the PC screen, watching the TV for news on the results from the ballot boxes, anxiety, uncertainty and HOPE lingers in the air..... BN, our ruling party in Malaysia, who has been flexing its political muscles for a long time now with the confident (and ever sleepy and gay) PM convincing Malaysians that BN is the only way to peace. Opposition cannot hold the fort properly, though, because the formation and coalition between them is too loose. But with BN denied the 2/3 majority it needed, all I can say is that Pak Lah tore a tendon while flexing his political muscles. Fed up, fed up, fed up - Malaysians are fed up A lot of Malaysians chose not to vote for the oppositition IN THE PAST because we wanted unity, we resisted change because of a date w...

Demanding a Balanced Lifestyle

We live in a world choked with demands….demand for more money, better lifestyle, more holidays, smarter kids, bigger house, posher cars….etc. People walk around with spiritually unimportant goals in their minds driven by the need to succeed and be better than others around them. Hong Kong. South Korea. Japan. Most Asian countries suffer from this ill-fate which have caused a horrific rise in the number of suicide rates in the said countries. Malaysia is no exception as well although we’re very slowly gaining ground on our neighbors. Just picking up my son from school can become a stressful affair. I’ve mentioned this to a few friends of mine over the phone and all of them cluck their tongue shake their head. It’s end of the year and the kids are getting their test results back by now. I overheard a couple of tai-tais (housewives) gripe about their kids’ results. Mom: I don’t know-lah. My kid did not do very well this term. The best also got 95 only. (NINETY FIVE ONLY???) ...
