Every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, I will drag the kids to the nearby field for a round of jolking. New term - Jogging + Walking = Jolking. That's because despite our best intentions and efforts, we end up walking more than we are jogging. Such determination, I know.
But from the various experiences, I think the jolking sessions really benefit the kids in more ways than one. Yes, they (HOPEFULLY) lose some weight and gain some fitness but it is more than that. We started with 5 rounds of walking and now, we're doing 8. I'll sneak a 9 in there some time next week. :-)
So, the goal is 8 rounds (rather big rounds). What I noticed about the kids is how
My elder son, today, was rather grouchy while doing the rounds. So, I grabbed their hands and started jolking ahead saying, 'Come on, we only have....what...6 rounds to go? Come on, let's get it going!' Mega coach style.
Every time we reach the same tree, I announce, 'Yes! See, it wasn't hard...only 5.'
Then only 4.
Then only 3.
God, I love it when it's like this. A sucker for countdowns.
Then only 2.
The final round, we run for it...and leap up (well, only me, actually. They think running is already tiring enough, what more LEAP) into the air and go 'YES!!!'
I love that feeling. The feeling of reaching your goal. I tell them well done but next time, to finish off with more panache than the look of absolute disbelief and hatred on their faces.
