I Now Know What Love Is

Listening to the song 'I wanna know what love is' (yes, the 80's song and yes, I'm THAT old), it makes me think back about all those times when I was a teen asking the same question. I mean, it's inevitable. Everyone's done that....haven't you?

Just like all other teens and young adults, we equate LOVE with...ahem, the opposite sex...and sex. Please tTell me I'm not alone in this. =)

Love is when you have someone in your arms and someone buying you jewelery. Love happened when you want to sleep with that person over and over again, expecting the same passion to be as fiery (scoff!) as it was in the beginning. That was love in the eyes of a teenager.

I blame Hollywood and TVB series for that view. I mean, that's ALL they tell you! You sacrifice yourself for love, you don't mind waiting for someone to love you back for love, you can change a bad person into a good one with love.

While some of that remains to be true but you want to know what I think love is now?

Love is when you love your family and accept your friends. Love is when you love humankind despite how screwed up they are. Love is when you love everything that you have and appreciate them. Love is love for Mother Earth. Love is when you know you are broke but have your kids. Love is when you have such deep respect for some people because they motivate you. Love is when you get love back from people you've never met before. Love is when you know your work is helping someone else.

I mean, love is such a HUGE thing! It's not just sex.

Love, love, love. Damn, I'm so in love with everything today. =)

In case, I die tomorrow of an untimely death, I love you too...whoever you are!

p.s. The meds from my shrink are STRONG, I'm telling ya.

I'M KIDDING, ALRIGHT?!! Geez, sense of humor, please....

A Liberating Activity - Guess What Mine Is....

When asked what’s my one single favorite thing to do in the world, I would usually name a whole list of things that I love to do when my work is not screaming at me. Something that takes my mind COMPLETELY off of everyday tasks and relaxes me. Take a guess what it is…. If you say ‘ reading ’, yes, I love reading (especially soppy love stories with lots of sex scenes, please. Hee hee hee ….) and I also love mystery novels but it’s not the first on the list. If you say ‘ playing the piano ’; yes, I love playing the piano. Creating forms a huge part of my life and whenever I play the piano (as inept at it as I am), there’s this tiny little girl inside of me jumping up and down with glee, clapping her hands. It’s my childhood dream to be able to play the piano! And thumping on the keys gives me a sense of satisfaction when I hear the music. If you say ‘ writing ’; You’ve got to be kidding me! You mean I don’t write enough as it is? Case closed. If you say ‘ playing with my kids ’; Yea...

At Camp 5, 1 Utama: Kids' Rescue Mission

The kids had a wonderfully exciting day today. Now, this is as extreme as this mother is going to get. Mommy goes Paintball, kids go mountain-climbing...I think I've fulfilled the criteria of offering my kids a fun and exciting life as a kid. :-) It was one of their friends' birthday party and they're a little bored of KidzSports...that's for BABIES, anyway, they say. So, off to Camp 5 then, says the birthday boy's mother. Camp 5 in 1 Utama is located near Neways Karaoke, for those who have never been there before. It's a neat little corner tucked up on the roof of the massive shopping complex. Anyway, the kids had tons of fun although a little apprhensive when they saw how high the 'rock' was. It's actually quite neat and if I didn't feel like throwing up whenever up on higher grounds, I would have wanted to try it as well. The highlight of this party came in the form of a rescue mission. As we all know, when one is frighte...

Demanding a Balanced Lifestyle

We live in a world choked with demands….demand for more money, better lifestyle, more holidays, smarter kids, bigger house, posher cars….etc. People walk around with spiritually unimportant goals in their minds driven by the need to succeed and be better than others around them. Hong Kong. South Korea. Japan. Most Asian countries suffer from this ill-fate which have caused a horrific rise in the number of suicide rates in the said countries. Malaysia is no exception as well although we’re very slowly gaining ground on our neighbors. Just picking up my son from school can become a stressful affair. I’ve mentioned this to a few friends of mine over the phone and all of them cluck their tongue shake their head. It’s end of the year and the kids are getting their test results back by now. I overheard a couple of tai-tais (housewives) gripe about their kids’ results. Mom: I don’t know-lah. My kid did not do very well this term. The best also got 95 only. (NINETY FIVE ONLY???) ...
