I love my drinks and will happily indulge in them when offered. But there's one thing about it that I cannot understand....how do you drink alcoholic beverages during the day and not collapse? Or function? Or not fall asleep? Or dance your booty off in the middle of work?
I don't know, man.
There was this bunch of ah-peks (elderly gentlemen) sitting around in a Chinese restaurant yesterday and I was observing them chatting, playing cards and drinking their Tiger Beer. The chatting were a little too loud and they were flicking cigarette ashes into someone's dog's food nearby. Sure....they're having fun but for crissakes, it's three thirty in the afternoon!!
Hhhhmmm.....I think, in a lot of ways, the perspective is different and the demands are different for them.
What else is there to do (for them) apart from loiter around and just minggling with people their age. They probably don't work (DUH!!) and have nowhere else to go, anyway, so, if they get really pissed drunk, they can stagger home (it's a condo) and zzzzzzzzzzzz......
I've tried drinking when the sun was up before. Not fun. It was alright in air-conditioned atmosphere. But when time came to walk back to the office....yes, IN THE SUN.....oh, boy.....my eyeballs exploded and remnants of my retina and eyes smashed into the back of my skull!!
Gross....
....but that's what I feel about drinking during daylight hours. No, thanks. Not even if it's wine. Not even for a million bucks.
When asked what’s my one single favorite thing to do in the world, I would usually name a whole list of things that I love to do when my work is not screaming at me. Something that takes my mind COMPLETELY off of everyday tasks and relaxes me. Take a guess what it is…. If you say ‘ reading ’, yes, I love reading (especially soppy love stories with lots of sex scenes, please. Hee hee hee ….) and I also love mystery novels but it’s not the first on the list. If you say ‘ playing the piano ’; yes, I love playing the piano. Creating forms a huge part of my life and whenever I play the piano (as inept at it as I am), there’s this tiny little girl inside of me jumping up and down with glee, clapping her hands. It’s my childhood dream to be able to play the piano! And thumping on the keys gives me a sense of satisfaction when I hear the music. If you say ‘ writing ’; You’ve got to be kidding me! You mean I don’t write enough as it is? Case closed. If you say ‘ playing with my kids ’; Yea...
