Which Of Your Senses Changes Your Mood Fastest?

Each of our five senses have a role to play in changing our moods. For instance, when I wake up early in the morning, I hate to hear the traffic outside....I live near a school and many insane (and possibly sleepy) parents like to blare their horn freely. That affects my mood so I shut all windows and doors when I wake up in the morning. I hate to, also, see people treating other people badly. I hate to see kids stranded. I hate to see dogs being run over. That affects me. On the other hand, I love to see greens and flowers. (Typical, I know!) And music affects me just as much. It's a well-known fact that music and sound, for that matter, can change your mood from 'Hallelujah' to 'WTF?' in a matter of a nanosecond. But what affects my mood the most is....smell and touch. That explains why I am obssessed with aromatherapy (July is my birthday, for your info! Hee hee hee....), perfume and softtener (yes, yes...the laundry one). I don't wash my clothes WITHOUT softener because it's like a crime to me! It's like walking out the door with only your undies on. How can one not fumigate their clothes every chance they get? I don't understand.... I can be in the best-est of moods but give me a smelly man (OK, OK, OK...or woman) walking past me in a hurry....and the world stops spinning. I get a sick feeling in my tummy and I can't even muster the smallest of smiles. That also explains why I fell in love with my past men based on the cologne they wear. No cologne, no siree.... :-) Yes, I am kidding but only to a certain extent. Well, as for touch, no need to say lah. I am actually quite a 'touchy' person (inside and outside) and love to be enveloped in a bone-crushing hug (only from selected people, ok? Not everyone, please, lest you feel the urge to lunge at me every time you see me) and I also love massages (free one, please feel free to offer....but above rule applies, I reserve the right to reject applicants. Ahem!). Which reminds me of times when I was offered massages from male objects in the past. Some in school with the teacher standing in the front, some from mere strangers and then some who think that they are close enough to me to offer. I don't know....(shiver). That is why when I am stressed out, I do the following:-
  • Burner with my aromatherapy
  • Soft piano or sax music in the background
  • My massage oils
  • My massage rollers
  • Lotions, lotions upon lotions

Sigh.....now, THAT's how you change your mood from Tiu.N.S (cantonese) to Mow-tak-teng.

At Camp 5, 1 Utama: Kids' Rescue Mission

The kids had a wonderfully exciting day today. Now, this is as extreme as this mother is going to get. Mommy goes Paintball, kids go mountain-climbing...I think I've fulfilled the criteria of offering my kids a fun and exciting life as a kid. :-) It was one of their friends' birthday party and they're a little bored of KidzSports...that's for BABIES, anyway, they say. So, off to Camp 5 then, says the birthday boy's mother. Camp 5 in 1 Utama is located near Neways Karaoke, for those who have never been there before. It's a neat little corner tucked up on the roof of the massive shopping complex. Anyway, the kids had tons of fun although a little apprhensive when they saw how high the 'rock' was. It's actually quite neat and if I didn't feel like throwing up whenever up on higher grounds, I would have wanted to try it as well. The highlight of this party came in the form of a rescue mission. As we all know, when one is frighte...

A Liberating Activity - Guess What Mine Is....

When asked what’s my one single favorite thing to do in the world, I would usually name a whole list of things that I love to do when my work is not screaming at me. Something that takes my mind COMPLETELY off of everyday tasks and relaxes me. Take a guess what it is…. If you say ‘ reading ’, yes, I love reading (especially soppy love stories with lots of sex scenes, please. Hee hee hee ….) and I also love mystery novels but it’s not the first on the list. If you say ‘ playing the piano ’; yes, I love playing the piano. Creating forms a huge part of my life and whenever I play the piano (as inept at it as I am), there’s this tiny little girl inside of me jumping up and down with glee, clapping her hands. It’s my childhood dream to be able to play the piano! And thumping on the keys gives me a sense of satisfaction when I hear the music. If you say ‘ writing ’; You’ve got to be kidding me! You mean I don’t write enough as it is? Case closed. If you say ‘ playing with my kids ’; Yea...

My Favorite Soup In The World

For some very strange reason, if you gave me a choice between soup and fruit juice, I feel a magnetic pull towards the ‘soup’. It’s a very Chinese thing and I understand that a lot of Chinese people are rather soupy people too. Pardon the word ‘soupy’, my brain isn’t quite working today and it’s like working in ssssllllooooowwww mmmmoooottttiioooonnnn today. Sigh…such is life. Yesterday was a darn hectic day and today is another one – I’ll suffer more today because of the brain-deadedness. My mom makes the meanest soups in the world . Last Sunday, we went over to her place for dinner and she made this absolutely mouth-watering soup that had me gulping down a huge bowl the size of a wok! Darn good…to say that I miss my mom’s cooking is an understatement. She is THE MEGA TERROR cook of the century! I am biased….so? The problem is that nowadays, her memory is not very good, so, once in a while, you’ll see her asking herself, “Did I put salt already ah?” If you’re within hearing dis...
