Paper Please - Education Above Experience

You see, everyone is learning every single one of their living days. Irregardless of how much you earn a month, whether you're a Masters holder, Degree holder, SPM cert holder, it matters not because the moment you stop trying to learn, you stop growing. Personal growth, that is The body does not stop growing until the moment we die and the brain should also be kept active. We can do this by consistently looking out for information, asking questions, discussing issues with other people, or just reading everything in sight. I snub my nose at people who think that they've got it made with pieces of paper certifying that they have a such-and-such degree, such-and-such doctorate, such-and-such masters! That piece of paper means absolutely nothing. Is there a cert for being a housewife? Is there a paper I can sit for that ascertains me as a qualified parent or mother? Can I find a degree for working-at-home? Or is there an educational program I can enroll for search engine marketing? Perhaps I should try to find a educational program for 'How to Keep Sane During the Holidays when you're working from home and the kids' got no where to go and you can't take time off and they're driving you absolutely bananas"? I was reading this earlier and commend the mother for her bravery and her decision to take the SPM exam so that she is in a better position to sustain her family financially. But don't you think it's a little unfair to keep the woman on a non-permanent position when she's been working there for like....what, 12 year??? Just cause she doesn't have her SPM or other paper qualifications? Single mum of six sits for SPM in bid to better her life Learning is an integral part of living but how smart a person is should not be solely associated with paper qualifications. Having the right paper qualification is only an indication of a potentially well-educated person. Whether that person is smart or not depends on willing is to continue learning new things to further improve his or her position. At this point in time, BOTH my brother and sister are working and studying at the same time. I am the eldest in my family and I got to the cake first. My father exhausted all his financial resources on my education and my younger siblings did not have a chance to further theirs. Now, they're studying and working at the same time....which is, to me, akin to torture! Not easy leh! The reason why they're doing that is because......more opportunities for career advancement if you have a degree. If you don't have, then chances are slim. To me, education is so expensive, so, does it mean that poor people cannot ever hold important positions in a company? That means poor people with no money to further their education but have lots of working experience will never get the same kind of opportunity rich people have? So, this makes rich people richer, poor people their carpet lah! This is how unfair life is, hor?

Marsha...I have NO degree, no impressive paper to show you. But I do have a heavily concentrated IQ...which is known as Artistic IQ.

There are 5 IQ's in this world : Academic IQ, Artistic IQ, Mathematics IQ, Language IQ and Kinetic IQ.

I'll tell you more about this amazing and eye-opening discovery if you promise to treat to KOPI in atria soon. :-)

A Liberating Activity - Guess What Mine Is....

When asked what’s my one single favorite thing to do in the world, I would usually name a whole list of things that I love to do when my work is not screaming at me. Something that takes my mind COMPLETELY off of everyday tasks and relaxes me. Take a guess what it is…. If you say ‘ reading ’, yes, I love reading (especially soppy love stories with lots of sex scenes, please. Hee hee hee ….) and I also love mystery novels but it’s not the first on the list. If you say ‘ playing the piano ’; yes, I love playing the piano. Creating forms a huge part of my life and whenever I play the piano (as inept at it as I am), there’s this tiny little girl inside of me jumping up and down with glee, clapping her hands. It’s my childhood dream to be able to play the piano! And thumping on the keys gives me a sense of satisfaction when I hear the music. If you say ‘ writing ’; You’ve got to be kidding me! You mean I don’t write enough as it is? Case closed. If you say ‘ playing with my kids ’; Yea...

Maid Side-Kick

I was kind of a little sad when I read the news about this - there will be no live-in Indonesian maids in Malaysia anymore . There are pros and cons to having a live-in maid, as with everything else, but for us, we enjoyed more pros than cons. Back then, when my kids were little, we brought in a family of maids to help with...well, just about everything, and we were like two families merged into one. They ate what we ate, we sleep, they sleep, we shop, they shop, they joke, we laugh, we joke, they laugh...for me, the maid I hired was more like a sister and side-kick to me. For that few years, I was dependent on her to mind-read my schedule and when I need or don't need help. She picked things up quickly and we ended up having lots of moments whereby we were in sync. Today, two of them are on my Facebook and we were gleefully chatting over Facebook Messenger since they've just discovered the wonders of the Internet and Social Media. Since we were more like partners in crim...

Recipe :Pumpkin Carrot Soup

Updated this post with a real picture. Ever since, Son 2 saw me buying some local pumpkin, he's been suggesting this for the longest time. I wish I took a picture of the mushroom soup I made the day before. Edit: I did the mushroom soup recipe a bit earlier) + meatballs and pasta ) I didn't but I will do it the next time I make it. It was absolutely heavenly.  But anyway, these were more or less the ingredients I used and the way I made it.  I made it using the crock pot/slow cooker over a couple of hours because it's an easy and lazy way to melt everything down. Unlike Chinese soups, we just need to cook everything down and then blend everything, and I mean everything , except the juices, down to a pulp.  Before the final serving, just add in as much cooking cream as you want. This is subjective and based on your personal preference.  I don't think AI can recreate the images above. Hehehehe.....
