Swimming Slumber

Very long conversation with a friend over a frustrating issue. Work beckoning. The prospect of jumping off KL Twin Tower very inviting but saved by kisses delivered to sleeping kids. Angels. Opened up a bottle of white wine. Switched on my ASTRO Wah Lai Toi Astro On Demand. The show was on the slow side. TNM! Not engaging. Sung Si Kyung is on Korean air waves and his soothing voice calms me down. Don't know why. He's got the voice of an angel no matter what he is talking about....don't know 99% of what he is talking about since Sung Si Kyung sounds like he's swearing all the time....in a very gentle kind of way. Korean language is like that. Wanna go swimming suddenly. Cool down mah. Look for swimsuit. Dig and dig like a mad woman on steroids. Cannot find. Alah....who the hell cares now? Nobody see me lah swimming in the dark! Dressed in pink, white, black pinstriped shorts, very worn and torn Reebok t-shirt, I strode down to the swimming pool. Sometimes the guards make their rounds, so, I threw furtive looks around the pool just in case one of them is around. No one is around. It's 2.30am lah! Kids sleeping. I swim well but....I press my nose between my thumb and index finger and BLOODY JUMP INTO THE POOL!!!! Like the kind of dramatic thing you see on TV, people pressing their nose and leap very high into the air into the pool? Yeah...lidat! Hee hee hee.... Yippeeeeee!!!!! Damn chun feeling. Swam dunno how many laps because wine kicking in my system. Swim anyway. Swim and swim and swim..... Wine kicking out. Got out. Threw anxious looks around again cause my loose-fitting shorts slipping down with the weight of the water. No guards. Phew! Drenched, I strutted my stuff back to condo, showered and with a contented and satisfied sigh, stared at the ceiling. "Ceiling, I wanna go to sleep now already. Good night", I whispered. Right, I kiss Joshua. Left, I kiss Jared. I swam into slumber. Bliss....

A Liberating Activity - Guess What Mine Is....

When asked what’s my one single favorite thing to do in the world, I would usually name a whole list of things that I love to do when my work is not screaming at me. Something that takes my mind COMPLETELY off of everyday tasks and relaxes me. Take a guess what it is…. If you say ‘ reading ’, yes, I love reading (especially soppy love stories with lots of sex scenes, please. Hee hee hee ….) and I also love mystery novels but it’s not the first on the list. If you say ‘ playing the piano ’; yes, I love playing the piano. Creating forms a huge part of my life and whenever I play the piano (as inept at it as I am), there’s this tiny little girl inside of me jumping up and down with glee, clapping her hands. It’s my childhood dream to be able to play the piano! And thumping on the keys gives me a sense of satisfaction when I hear the music. If you say ‘ writing ’; You’ve got to be kidding me! You mean I don’t write enough as it is? Case closed. If you say ‘ playing with my kids ’; Yea...

Malaysian Election 2008 - Malaysians ready for change

The political wrestle is over, here in Malaysia, and thankfully too because it earned me a hangove from watching the news, and reading all the readily available blogs on cyberspace all night long. With a spilting headache from squinting into the PC screen, watching the TV for news on the results from the ballot boxes, anxiety, uncertainty and HOPE lingers in the air..... BN, our ruling party in Malaysia, who has been flexing its political muscles for a long time now with the confident (and ever sleepy and gay) PM convincing Malaysians that BN is the only way to peace. Opposition cannot hold the fort properly, though, because the formation and coalition between them is too loose. But with BN denied the 2/3 majority it needed, all I can say is that Pak Lah tore a tendon while flexing his political muscles. Fed up, fed up, fed up - Malaysians are fed up A lot of Malaysians chose not to vote for the oppositition IN THE PAST because we wanted unity, we resisted change because of a date w...

Maid Side-Kick

I was kind of a little sad when I read the news about this - there will be no live-in Indonesian maids in Malaysia anymore . There are pros and cons to having a live-in maid, as with everything else, but for us, we enjoyed more pros than cons. Back then, when my kids were little, we brought in a family of maids to help with...well, just about everything, and we were like two families merged into one. They ate what we ate, we sleep, they sleep, we shop, they shop, they joke, we laugh, we joke, they laugh...for me, the maid I hired was more like a sister and side-kick to me. For that few years, I was dependent on her to mind-read my schedule and when I need or don't need help. She picked things up quickly and we ended up having lots of moments whereby we were in sync. Today, two of them are on my Facebook and we were gleefully chatting over Facebook Messenger since they've just discovered the wonders of the Internet and Social Media. Since we were more like partners in crim...
